Notice the Apple Logo and the “Think Different” at the top left, way to make money off an advertisement of Rosa Park’s death. They really are thinking different over there at apple…
“PHILADELPHIA - Apple Computer Inc. faces a lawsuit that alleges the company knew its nano portable music player was defective but still decided to press on with the product's release last month. […] The lawsuit, filed in San Jose, California on Wednesday, claims that the nano scratches "excessively during normal usage". It alleges that though Apple knew the nano had design problems, it released the product and led consumers to believe it was durable — forcing them to shoulder the cost of replacing defective music players.” –MSNBC News (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9802659/)
So apparently your ipod nano can go from looking like this…![]()
To this…
What I don’t understand is the ipod nano is already 200 dollars, why not spend the extra 100 dollars to buy a new video ipod that doesn’t scratch as easily, which also holds more songs, and other media? To me it seems you get a lot more for just 100 bucks more, and with out as much hassle.

just my 2 cents (from a marketers perspective i guess)
i understand the whole "taking rosa parks and using her to advertise" thing...but apple has always differentiated themselves from other products (like other mp3 players etc). thats their whole ad campaign - differentiation. im not finished with this whole thought, so if you're reading this and getting upset just relax for a moment. iPod commercials have always been different and of course they stand out in your mind. theyre vivd and loud and they get your attention. thats what apple is going for. remember all of the ads on the poles in the street...construction sites...in the bathroom, in the mall...fucking everywhere. and whwat did you remember about them? their ads. their ads are always the ones that stand out and i will always remember apple iPods to have the best campaign to stand out and get peoples attention. not only that but even in their commercials they capture you by tapping into specific groups of people - ex: girl dancing listening to rock or boy dancing to hip hop. people relate to that kind of shit automatically and the music tune even stays in your head. they market themselves by being something different that you cannot get elsewhere. people still put iPods into their own group (iPod) not an mp3 player. that was their goal. differentiation.
and thats their point. rosa parks was different, she stood up for herself and refused to do what she was supposed to.
and also, one of apples slogans is "think different." and thats what rosa parks did.
and it isnt like they used that ad everywhere, that would piss me off. but they werent using it for marketing purposes for themselves. if its on their website of course theyre going to put their apple logo on it.
whatever my marketing classes have gotten into my head.
i miss you scott.

Re: just my 2 cents (from a marketers perspective i guess)
I understood why they said "Think Different," becuase Rosa Parks thought differently, that was something that I got right away. However, I don't think it's right to use someone's image (who didn't even have the chance to agree to this) and slap their company logo on the picture. Don't get me wrong I like Apple Computers, but I would be really pissed off if I was Rosa Parks and a company did that.and I miss you too Kymby.

Bears hate ipods. They don't like the fact you have to pay 99 cents for songs. They believe in the good old napster days.
